Matthews Thoroughbred Farm strives to breed top quality thoroughbred race horses for sale at thoroughbred yearling auctions or privately to trainers and owners.
Owned by Leslie Matthews, the farm is located on 133 acres in Benton, Louisiana, in Bossier Parish. It has been a family owned farm since 1950. The property features an acre pond with a natural running stream. All pastures have run in sheds, weed control, are fertilized and have all nutrients added to ensure the highest quality grass.
Full Care Pasture Boarding This includes feed 2 times a day, pasture that is regularly clipped and fertilized, as well as Coastal and Alfalfa hay.
Breeding 2 thoroughbred stallions stand at farm: SHERYAR SPECIAL AND SNUCK IN. Approximately 70-80 breeding mares yearly produce top quality thoroughbred foals for sale to the public. Special consideration (breeding fee) is given to all stakes winning, stakes placed, and to allowance winning mares. Multiple mare discounts are given based on quantity of mares.
Stallions Snuck In, winner of $563,230 from 2-4. At 2yrs old he was on the board 7 out of 7 times including 3-stakes wins by a combined 12 lengths. Snuck In is a leading Sire in Louisiana with over 1.6 million in '08 progeny earnings. Lifetime 96 winners from 143 starters - winning $4.5 million.
